Velar is a collective built around guided bike expeditions in remote environments. It is designed to bring together a small number of individuals who share a common interest in experiencing challenging and authentic settings, where conditions are not controlled and outcomes are not predefined.
Rather than offering organized travel or packaged itineraries, Velar provides guidance and coordination for expeditions that require active participation, personal responsibility, and adaptability. Each experience is intentionally limited in size to preserve a high level of cohesion, allowing the group to move efficiently and make decisions collectively when conditions evolve.
Within this framework, the role of Velar is to plan, guide, and ensure overall safety, while participants remain directly involved in the practical and strategic aspects of the journey. This balance creates an environment where the experience is not passively consumed, but actively shaped by those who take part in it.
The objective is not simply to reach a destination, but to create shared moments through effort, uncertainty, and progression in remote areas. Velar exists to facilitate these experiences, bringing people together in a structured yet minimal way, where the value lies in the reality of the environment and the collective nature of the expedition.
Where it all began
Velar was founded in 2026 from a personal drive to explore the world differently—moving through remote environments by bike and engaging with places and cultures in a more direct, grounded way. What began as an individual approach to travel evolved into a structured project. As the founder, I built Velar to create small, focused expeditions that prioritize real terrain, autonomy and meaningful experience over conventional travel.
Our Guides
We are a team of four friends who have been riding together for years, while also building strong individual experience through personal cycling journeys in diverse and often remote environments. Over time, our paths came together, allowing us to combine our skills and work as a cohesive and reliable team.
All of the guides are certified in Wilderness First Response (WFR), trained in bicycle mechanics, and qualified as certified cycling guides. These are practical skills we apply daily, from managing risks and handling unexpected situations to maintaining the bikes throughout each journey.
We place strong emphasis on safety and on creating a cohesive group dynamic. Our goal is to guide experiences that are physically demanding yet well-managed, where participants support each other and fully engage in a journey that is both challenging and meaningful.
Our vision
Looking ahead, our goal is to grow Velar into a strong and connected community of riders who share the same mindset and approach to exploration. We want to create opportunities to coordinate and guide expeditions in unique and remote locations around the world, making these experiences more accessible while maintaining the same level of quality, safety, and authenticity.
Beyond the journeys themselves, we aim to build something that lasts: a network of people connected by shared challenges, meaningful experiences, and a passion for riding. Each expedition is not just a trip, but something participants carry with them long after it ends—an experience that leaves a lasting impact, both personally and collectively.
